This slow cooker whole chicken recipe is so easy to make, and you can have a fresh roasted rotisserie style chicken any time you want with more natural ingredients!

Cooking whole chicken in a slow cooker:
Yes, you can! The first step is to select your chicken, I like to use organic when possible. You will have to make sure that the chosen chicken will fit inside the crockpot, I use my bigger egg-shaped crockpot for this job which is sufficient to put up nearly any sized chicken. If you’re using a smaller circular slow cooker, then go for a smaller sized chicken.
The chicken gets covered in a simple flavor blend, then put in the slow cooker upon a hoop of foil. The foil acts as a stand to keep the chicken from steaming in its own extracts as it cooks.
Safety constraints for cooking a whole chicken in a slow cooker:
It is safe to cook an entire chicken in a slow cooker, but it’s typically suggested that you cook the chicken at high temperatures for at least one hour for food safety purposes. In this recipe, the chicken should be cooked on high heat for the entire cooking time.
Time needed to cook a whole chicken in a slow cooker:
It usually takes 3-4 hours to cook a chicken on high heat in the slow cooker, and 8 hours to cook on low heat. As stated above, if you plan to cook your chicken on the lesser heat setting, be sure to let it cook at high for one hour before you shift to low to make sure the chicken is at the right temperature for food safety purposes.
And in the end, you’ll get a juicy and tasty bird!
Now, this slow cooker chicken has just one thing missing: that golden-brown skin generally associated with grilled chicken. I put my chicken in a pot and cook it directly on the heat for about 5 minutes to get that gorgeous golden-brown skin that everyone loves.
When I cook a 5-pound of chicken for my family, we usually end up with a lot of remains which I use to make dinner for the next night.
Once you try this slow cooker whole chicken lemon, you’ll not ever want to go back to the store to buy rotisserie chicken again!
