Best Pakistani Sheer Khurma Recipe
Sheer Khurma is considered one of the most popular sweet dishes that always made in Eid-ul-Fitr all over the world. No doubt, making this unique sweet dish is a joyous experience. Sheer khurma Pakistani recipe truly represents the essence of Eid-ul-Fitr and is specially made in, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and many parts of Central Asia on Eid.
It’s a fact that on Eid everyone’s excited, there is lots of work that still has to be finished before the house is completely set to enjoy Eid ul Fitr that is a Muslim Celebration after a month of Fasting. Moreover, I also make sheer khurma or seviyan along with some other desserts to greet our guests. On Eid, every person at home is dressed well and excited after the Eid khutba prayer.

Sheer khurma recipe Eid-ul-Fitr Dessert
Sheer means ‘milk’ and khurma means dates in the language of Persian as this dish is originated from Persia. In other words, it is a vermicelli pudding with some nuts and dry fruit that is usually cooked along specially dried dates and raisins. However, it’s very easy to make a sheer khurma recipe with condensed milk.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup of ghee or butter
- 1/4 cup of the assorted nuts
- 1-liter complete fat milk
- One cup of the nylon vermicelli
- Half cup of evaporated milk
- Two green cardamoms crushed
- Half cup of common sugar
Method of shahi sheer khurma
Step #1
First of all, you have to take a medium-sized pot, and then heat half of the ghee in it. Add your nuts and sauté for almost two minutes and then remove it from the pot and set aside for some time.

Now, you have to add the remaining ghee and the vermicelli and then roast on medium heat for three minutes, until golden and fragrant.

After that, you have to add the milk with the cardamom pods. Cook it on medium heat for almost fifteen minutes while stirring constantly. Add the sugar and then cook for another seven minutes.

Finally, you have to add the evaporated milk and then cook for almost five minutes more. Remove it from heat and transfer it to your best suitable serving dish. However, Sheer Khurma can be eaten warm or cold and it will thicken upon cooling.
Important Tips:
- Commonly ghee is used for sheer khurma, but it’s solidified as it cools down, which can leave an after texture. In case, if you want to avoid this, then you must use butter.
- It’s very important to use thin nylon vermicelli because that’s the best way of making vermicelli. Normal vermicelli that is thicker is not considered an ideal option.
- You can adjust the amount of sugar according to your requirement.
